From my own experience, I can tell you that when students hear they have to retell or render something, they become immediately embarrassed and perplexed. They think if they do not know some of the words, there is’not the ghost of a chance and the task is over for them. But is the situation like that? The teacher wants to hear the way you talk and not repeat word for word like in the text. Of course, the idea or message is very important to be produced, but it may be presented in another words and “decorated” with additional expressions and phrases like the following: opening and final phrases. They will give you the sense of confidence and certain sequance which is important while speaking. Let us have a look at some of opening phrases:
